There are a lot of new things with this version of Buildbox which may confuse the users so let me show you guys how to navigate through Buildbox 3.
This is the Buildbox 3 welcome screen, and to get started you will have to select a game preset and double click to open it. In this instance I selected "Default".
After double clicking on Default preset, it will take you to the Mind Map. Let us now double click on 3D world so I can show you the basic controls.
When you open the 3D World, the things you will first notice are Camera, Light and the Cube on the scene editor. We will discuss those later.
Just like the previous version of Buildbox, you can zoom in and out by using your mouse scroll.
You can also pan your view by holding the left click and pressing the space bar both at the same time while you move your mouse.
Now you can also rotate your view by holding the left clicker and pressing the space bar both at the same time while you move you mouse.
You may also add a 3D asset by clicking the Add Asset Library button on the upper left hand side. And yes, you can still drag and drop an asset.
Once there, select the object that you want to add then click Add to Library.
You will now see that you have Sphere under the category Objects. Lets click the Sphere so we can move back to our scene.
Here is how to add an asset.
Let us discuss what these buttons are for.
First one is the Select Tool. This tool allows you to disable and enable selecting multiple objects in your scene.
Next is the Move Tool. While you can still use the options panel to manually move your object, this tool also allows you to change the position of your object by clicking and dragging. You can also select the Move Tool by pressing 1 on your key board.
The third button is the Rotate Tool. This tool allows you to rotate your object in 3 dimensional axis, and of course you can still use the options panel if you prefer it that way. Short cut button for the Rotate Tool is 2.
Next is the Scale Tool. This tool allows you to change the dimension of your object. Again, you can still use the options panel to precisely adjust the size of your object. Short cut button is 3.
Next is the Camera button. This allows you to view what the Camera is seeing. You can scroll, rotate, and pan to adjust the camera view while you are in the camera view or move it like any object while you are out of it. You can also adjust using the options panel.
Next is the Local Axis button. This button allows you to move or rotate your light in a different direction other than the Move Tool. You can also click on the center of your light so you can manually move it. You may also change the shadows reflected by the Light Sun by rotating it.
Last is Collision Shape Editor. This button allows you to view and change the collision shape of your Asset.
